Both in summer and in winter the squares and historical sites of Rome are full
of people for all the night long. The most famous places are Campo dei Fiori,
Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, Trastevere, Testaccio, San Lorenzo...
You can start having a glass of wine or a cocktail, then move to the discos with
your friends, but not before you had your dinner in the typical restaurants of
the capital or in the neighborhoods.
And for those of you who prefer calm evenings, every night Rome offers interesting
theater performances, concerts, art exhibitions... look at our
"Events" area.
Cocktails in Rome
The cocktail hour in Rome has become a party ritual, a time to spend with friends
in bars and clubs in a relaxed atmosphere, where drinks and cocktails always come
together with tasty snacks.
We recommend: Vanni,
in the Prati district, strategically located in front of the theater of Victories.
The Happy Hour is from 5.30 pm to 9 pm, and the menu is made of italian delicacies;
Caffé degli Angeli,
between Piazza Venezia and Largo Argentina, for a drink in the historic center of Rome;
San Lorenzo Café,
in San Lorenzo district, where you will find a daily buffet of Chinese-Japanese-Italian
cuisine, with a blend of flavors that will make your palate happy;
Necci,
an icon of Pigneto district since 1924, famous throughout the world for being also
the setting of one of Pasolini's film, where you can find a rich list of wines and
cocktails accompanied by sweet and savory delicacies;
Pompi, in piazza Re
di Roma, whose Aperi-time from Tuesday to Saturday attracts anyone looking for a
moment of pleasure at the end of the day or before you start your evening!
Typical restaurants in Rome
Let's start with an assumption: finding good food in Rome is very common!
Unless you run into a really touristic place, with higher prices, (but, to tell the
truth, you can recognize these places very easily) you will not complain.
We give you some suggestions to try authentic Roman cuisine: in Trastevere
is well worth dining at La Botticella,
not the cheapest choice, but this restaurant also presents dishes of Jewish cuisine,
or at Roma Sparita, wich
offers in the menu pizza baked on brick. If you want to dine in city center, you can
try Osteria Barberini,
not far from Via Veneto, or Vecchia Roma,
near Piazza Vittorio: they both have the classic Roman cuisine with and interesting
revival.
If you are looking for something off the beaten track, then try
Osteria del Cavaliere,
in the Appia-Tuscolana area, which in addition to the typical roman dishes also features
specialties from Abruzzo.
Nightclubs in Rome
Rome is full of night clubs and discos, from the historical ones like
Piper or
Gilda (in the city center),
where the glories of the Dolce Vita of Fellini's Rome are still visible, to the more
trendy like Goa
(Garbatella area) or Qube
(Portonaccio area), that provide different rooms for dancing, with different types of
music each.
And for those who want to make the evening complete without turning from one place to
another, 45 giri (still in Garbatella)
offers a restaurant, a nightcluband and a cocktail bar.
